The Nigerian Air Force says it will support families affected by the Igbokoda crash in Ondo State.
Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Sunday Aneke made the assurance as recovery work continues in difficult underwater conditions.
In a statement issued on Friday by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the NAF said the support will include entitlements, benevolent funds, scholarships for eligible children and other approved welfare benefits.
It said its responsibility to the families goes beyond the recovery effort.
The Air Force has also set up a dedicated helpline at its headquarters to give families timely information.
Air Vice Marshal MC Ekwueme, Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command, visited Igbokoda to speak with community leaders and residents.
They raised concerns that the recovery could affect their water source.
He acknowledged their concerns and promised to address them through proper channels.
Recovery teams have deployed several pumps to drain water from around the crash site, so they can reach the main wreckage, which is still submerged and deeply embedded in the riverbed.
The NAF said the work needs specialist support and careful coordination, and that it will keep sharing verified updates.
