Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has raised the monthly salary of cleaners at the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso from N15,000 to N80,000.

The change brings their pay in line with the national minimum wage.

He announced it on Thursday during a meeting with stakeholders at the hospital, after the cleaners appealed to him in person.

A statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, confirmed the decision.

Makinde also asked striking hospital workers to give his government time to address their complaints.

He said the first step is to call off the strike, after which talks can move forward.

"This is our state; how we lay our bed is how we will lie on it," he said.

Health Commissioner Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi thanked the governor for supporting the health sector and said the administration is committed to ending repeated strikes.
