Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe says he has never been a strong supporter of marriage.
In an interview on the In My Opinion podcast, he said the institution puts more pressure on women.
He pointed out that women carry pregnancies, give birth, take their husbands' surnames and handle much of the work of raising a family.
He said society is slowly accepting that a woman's worth does not depend on whether she is married.
He recalled being asked as a young man why he was not married by 25 or 30, and said some women now choose not to have children at all.
"I've never really been an advocate of marriage, because I feel like it's more tasking for the woman." - Uzor Arukwe https://t.co/kYo4i6hnYZ
