The African Democratic Congress in Buji Local Government Area of Jigawa State has suspended Aliyu Gantsa for 12 months.

He is a national chieftain and a member of the party's National Working Committee.

The suspension was announced in a statement in Dutse on Monday.

It runs from October 19, 2026 to October 19, 2027.

The party says Gantsa acted against it in public.

It also says he backed an aspirant who lost the party's primary, which it claims hurt the party's official candidates.

The suspension bars him from all party meetings, rallies and events at every level.

He cannot use any rights or duties tied to his membership or office.

He has 14 days to file a written appeal.

Gantsa rejects the suspension.

He says he is still a member of the National Working Committee and that the ward had no power to suspend him.

He claims the state leaders are behind it because they fear his growing influence.

He says he will keep working for the party and will seek redress through the proper channels.
