The Federal Government has approved four health facilities in Benue State to treat snakebite victims.
They will also get government supplied antivenom.
State Health Commissioner Dr Paul Ogwuche made the announcement on Tuesday in Makurdi.
The centres are spread across the state's three senatorial zones.
They are the General Hospital in Katsina Ala, the University Teaching Hospital in Makurdi, the General Hospital in Gboko and the General Hospital in Otukpo.
Staff at these centres will get special training to treat snakebites properly and quickly.
Farmers and people in rural areas will benefit most, since many of them work in fields where snakes are common.
Displaced people living in crowded camps are also at risk.
The state emergency agency spent over 160 million naira treating displaced people for snakebites in just six months.
Ogwuche said the goal is simple.
No one should die or go broke because they cannot pay for snakebite treatment.
