The APC Presidential Campaign Council has asked Timi Frank, an ADC member, to back up his claim that the government is plotting to kill Atiku Abubakar.

Frank wrote an open letter to US President Donald Trump and other world leaders on Monday.

He said there were plans to scare, arrest or stop Atiku from taking part in the election, and that Atiku's life was under threat.

On Tuesday, council spokesman Dele Alake said the claim is false.

He said neither President Tinubu nor the APC had any part in a plot.

He asked security agencies to invite Frank in to explain himself and share any information he has.

The council also said Atiku's security has not been cut.

It said Atiku has two levels of state-funded protection and that Tinubu has ordered more protection for him as a presidential candidate.

The council called Frank's letter the usual opposition noise and urged all parties to keep their campaigns peaceful and focused on the issues.
