The EFCC has arraigned two lovers, 19 year old Marian Elia and 21 year old Izuchukwu Uzoma, for allegedly stealing N35.92 million from Mrs Esther Ogbeifun in Benin, Edo State.

The case was brought by the EFCC's Benin zonal office before Justice C.A. Obiozor at the Federal High Court.

The pair face a seven count charge that includes cybercrime, conspiracy and stealing.

The EFCC says Elia grew up in Mrs Ogbeifun's house.

That gave her access to the victim's phones and bank details.

Between March 8 and July 29, 2026, she allegedly moved the money from the victim's account into an account belonging to Uzoma, her boyfriend.

Investigators say the two then spent the money for their own use.

Both pleaded not guilty.

The judge ordered that they be held at the Benin Correctional Centre and set the trial for December 7.
