The Ogun State government has approved a welfare payment of N50,000 for each of the 3,050 corps members in the 2026 Batch C Stream I orientation at the NYSC camp in Sagamu.

Payments started on Monday.

The money is meant to help the young people cover personal needs while they settle in.

Many of them are far from home for the first time, and the state says the support should make the start of their service year easier.

The government has also donated 500 mattresses to the Sagamu camp.

More corps members are being posted to Ogun, so the camp needs better facilities to house them comfortably.

Commissioner for Sports Development Wasiu Isiaka said the state wants corps members to serve with discipline, patriotism and care for the communities they are posted to.
