Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the FCT, has said Nigerians deserve a government that listens to them.
She spoke on the Senate floor on Thursday while backing a motion by Senator Abdul Ningi.
The motion calls for strict compliance with Senate resolutions.
She asked the Senate leadership and committee chairmen to use their constitutional powers to make sure government agencies follow the law.
She said that where institutions refuse to comply, the proper steps should be taken through due process.
Kingibe also said lawmakers must do more than pass laws and approve budgets.
They must also make sure decisions made in the public interest are carried out and that the concerns of communities are taken seriously.
