The Imo State High Court has set four days for the trial of five men accused of kidnapping prospective NYSC corps members.
The hearings are fixed for October 27 to 30, and the judge, Justice Emeka Orafu, wants both sides to wrap up the cases before January 2027.
Three of the men are accused of abducting 20 prospective corps members on Independence Day.
The other two face charges in a separate kidnapping case.
On Thursday, a Department of State Services officer, Ikem Emmanuel, told the court how investigators tracked the suspects.
He said they used intelligence, data analysis, record checks and statements from the accused, victims and witnesses.
An identification parade was also held, and victims and witnesses picked out the defendants.
Emmanuel said one defendant, Usman Aliyu, admitted to taking part in the operation and said 11 people were involved in the kidnapping.
He said all statements were made in the presence of lawyers and DSS legal officers.
The judge ordered that all five men stay in DSS custody while the trial continues.
