Anambra Governor Chukwuma Soludo says he has no personal quarrel with former governor Peter Obi.
Speaking to an online reporter on Monday, he said their families are close and that their disagreements are purely political.
He said the two families have strong ties.
Obi's wife was the baptismal godmother to one of Soludo's daughters, and Soludo's wife was the confirmation godmother to Obi's daughter.
Soludo said both men backed different candidates in the last Anambra governorship election, and that he won with God's help.
Soludo also revisited his 2022 article questioning Obi's chances in the presidential race.
He said he never claimed Obi would lose.
His point was that Obi's run would split opposition votes and help Tinubu win.
He also said an opposition alliance alone would not guarantee a win against an incumbent.
He added that he was the one who invited Obi to join APGA in 2022 so he could run for president, and that the plan was first to rally the Igbo people before seeking power.
“Peter Obi and I Are Close Friends, But We Have Different Political Visions” – Soludo “We are close friends, and our families are also very close. His wife is my daughter’s godmother, while my wife is his daughter’s godmother. But when it comes to politics, we have different visions. “Before the 2023 election, I told him he should come so we could build APGA, not because we were going to win, but to organise our people.” — Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo on BBCIgboNews
