Former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has asked Governor Hope Uzodimma to stop his supporters from attacking judges over a recent ruling on the APC senatorial ticket for Imo West.
Okorocha spoke on Tuesday at the Federal High Court in Abuja, where he went to the registry to sign documents linked to the case.
He said he was upset by comments some of Uzodimma's aides made against the judge who delivered the judgment.
He called the attacks unacceptable.
He said the governor should caution his supporters and stop insulting judges, adding that such behaviour does not reflect well on the country.
Rochas asked why the supporters were attacking the judiciary instead of letting the legal process run its course.
He suggested Uzodimma appeal the judgment up to the Supreme Court.
Okorocha also challenged Uzodimma to answer his claims in public rather than hide behind supporters.
He accused Uzodimma of presenting forged documents during the court proceedings and said he was confident the judgment would hold if challenged on appeal.
He also praised the judiciary for handling the dispute.
The case stems from an October 29 judgment by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu ruled that Uzodimma did not emerge as the valid winner of the APC primary held on May 18, which was monitored by the electoral commission, INEC.
The court found that Okorocha got the most votes in that primary and should have the party ticket for the Imo West senatorial seat, which is set for January 16, 2027.
The court directed INEC to recognise Okorocha and publish his name as the party's valid candidate.
It also barred Uzodimma from presenting himself as the APC candidate for the seat.
