The groups that are against the current government have stopped calling themselves the G100 and have changed their name to Coalition for Democracy.
They say they are stepping up efforts to remove President Bola Tinubu from office in the 2027 general election.
The coalition announced the change on Thursday in a statement from one of its conveners, Salihu Lukman.
The statement followed a meeting of the group's Central Leadership Committee in Abuja.
The coalition said the new name shows that member parties are united in protecting constitutional democracy, upholding the rule of law and defending the political rights of Nigerians.
The group was formed after the first Opposition Summit on August 31, 2026, in Abuja.
Member parties include the ADC, NDC, PRP, SDP, PDP, and APM, among others.
The coalition also issued a warning to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
It accused the APC of steadily shrinking Nigeria's democratic space.
It said the party is building an election system in which the ruling party alone enjoys advantages that the opposition is denied.
"You cannot be a contestant and insist on writing the rules for your opponents," the coalition said.
With about 72 days to go before the January 16, 2027 polls, the coalition said actions by government bodies and security agencies raise serious doubts about whether Nigerians will be free to choose their leaders.
The group has asked for an independent forensic audit of the voters' register before December 15.
It also wants INEC to give all registered political parties electronic copies of the preliminary voters' register now and the certified register later.
