A 26 year old man in Ogun State has been sent to prison for stealing a solar streetlight meant to provide light for road users at night.

Anthony Cephas, 26 years old has been sentenced to 3 years in prison for stealing a solar panel along Sagamu Expressway in Ogun State.
Detectives from the Sagamu Division of the Ogun State Police Command arrested him on October 30, 2026, at about 9pm in the Mayegun area of Sagamu.
They recovered the streetlight and its solar panel, which were used as evidence in the case.
State Police Public Relations Officer Oluseyi Babaseyi shared the details in a statement.
He said Cephas was taken to court on November 2, 2026, where he was found guilty and sentenced.
The command said it will continue to protect public property and make sure people who steal government infrastructure face justice.
Police said that they wil keep protecting public property and make sure anyone who steals nor damages it will be punished.
