New group of 2,205 graduates have officially started their one year service in Anambra State.
They were posted to Anambra State for their national service.
The group is made up of 961 men and 1,244 women.
The swearing-in took place on Friday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp in Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, in Awka South Local Government Area.
Anambra Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youths and Sports, Ifeatu Emordi.
Emordi declared the orientation course open and asked the corps members to feel at home and enjoy the state's hospitality.
Soludo praised the corps members for finishing their studies and for choosing to serve away from home, which he said shows a commitment to national unity.
He said his administration is working toward Anambra Vision 2070, a plan to build a liveable, prosperous and smart mega city.
He urged the corps members to learn the local culture, respect the people's traditions and help the state grow.
He also highlighted the state's youth programmes.
The flagship 1Youth2Skills Programme has trained 13,300 young people across its first two phases, with grants totalling ₦5.5 billion.
Soludo encouraged the corps members to identify skills and business ideas now so they can apply when the next phase starts.
He also pointed to the Solution Innovation District, Code Anambra and Digital Tribe, which are meant to build digital skills and tech solutions.
State NYSC Coordinator Pauline Ojisua congratulated the corps members on qualifying for service.
She explained that orientation includes paramilitary drills, lectures, skills training, entrepreneurship classes, sports and community development work.
The aim is to build discipline, patriotism, leadership and self-reliance.
She told the corps members to take part fully in every activity, respect authority, work as a team and stay security-conscious.
She also encouraged them to make use of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, SAED, programme.
Speaking to reporters, Anambra's Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Nwabufo Nwankwo, said the NYSC scheme helps promote national integration by sending graduates to states other than their own.
He urged the corps members to explore Anambra, avoid crime and obey the law.
