Bernado Silva has become the new leader of the Portugal national football team after Cristiano Ronaldo retired from international football.
The move follows Cristiano Ronaldo's retirement from international football, announced on Thursday.
According to The Touchline, the choice was based on experience.
The player with the most caps is usually given the armband, and Silva has 115 appearances for Portugal, with 14 goals.
The Real Madrid midfielder will take over the captaincy from Ronaldo for future matches.
Silva made his debut in 2015.
He has won the UEFA Nations League twice, in 2019 and 2025.
