On Friday, a group of young people attacked NAFDAC with weapons at Igbudu Market in Warri, Delta State, forcing them to stop their inspecion work.

The officials had gone to the market to inspect shops suspected of selling fake drugs.

According to reports, the youths blocked the officials and stopped them from doing their job.

They said no law enforcement officer may enter their community to make an arrest without their permission.

The clash caused serious tension in the market. It is not yet clear whether any NAFDAC officer was hurt.

Kelvin Ejumudo, Senior Special Assistant on Human Rights to Delta State Governor, reacted to the incident.

He called on security agencies to arrest the market chairman and the union chairman of Igbudu market to stop the disruption.

He said people are complaining about fake products and rising cases of kidney failure, yet some are blocking NAFDAC from inspecting the market.

He said the state government will not tolerate such acts from anyone, whatever their position.

He warned, "We will storm the market again; let's see who will resist NAFDAC again."

He added that everyone has a part to play in keeping fake drugs out of the country.
