Two children who were just having a great swim in a river with other friends have ended up with a terrible tragedy.

The two kids one of whom was identified as Kofi Nii Duodu, 5 and a second one who is aged 4 years got drowned in a river in Fumso where they had gone to swim with others, in the Ashanti Regionof Ghana.
Another two were rescued from the river which is a popular one in the area.
The incident, according to a father of one of the kids, happened when the grandmum of the kids had left them for market to go and buy food items for the house.
“It was when she was returning from the market that she was told that the children had drowned in the river…one was not immediately declared dead but died while on the way to the hospital…,” he said.
One of the kids, he said was his child and another was the first born of his sister whom he said had travelled to the North.
The father expressed shock at the incident as according to him, the children are not known to be persons who usually go to the river to swim.
Meanwhile, resident of the town are blaming the happening on some youth of the town who went to play jams at the river banks with the intention of trying to create a resort there.
This, they said drew the attention of the children in the town to the river.
