Amina Zakari Becomes First Female Head of INEC as President Buhari Names Her Acting Chairman

Amina Zakari's temporarily appointment was announced on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, by the Director Communications in the Office of Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Haruna Imrana.

 
President Buhari has appointed Amina Bala Zakari, as the acting head of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
 
Amina Zakari’s appointment was announced on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, via a statement released by the Director of Communications in the Office of Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Haruna Imrana.
 
The acting INEC Chairman is the first female to occupy the position and was until her appointment a National Electoral Commissioner.
 
Zakari takes over from former Chairman, Attahiru Jega whose five-year tenure expired on June 30.
