Residents of Nasarawa State have had a really tough time recently as flood ravaged their community leaving some dead and many homeless.

The heavy flooding ravaged the Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, leaving three persons dead, while one other was declared missing on Monday.

More than 150 houses were submerged in the affected communities, which include Adage, Yalwata, Akura, Uga and Gidan Buba as the flood completely wiped out Gidan Buba Uga, the major bridge in the area.

The Sole Administrator of Lafia LG, Suleiman Wambai, attributed the disaster to the blockage of some waterways and warned people to avoid dumping refuse in drainages.

Addressing newsmen in Lafia, a community leader of Gidan Buba, Abdulhamid Usman said the flood was as a result of a heavy downpour, which lasted for hours.

He said three persons were confirmed dead, while one was declared missing in Dakaci village, adding that properties worth millions of naira were destroyed.
