There’s a whole number of reasons why we have sex and it’s not just to make babies or because it feels good.
In fact researchers discovered there are as many as 237 different motivations for getting down and dirty. But what are the most common reasons ladies list for jumping into bed?
Scientists at the University of Ottawa asked 510 young heterosexual women to rank the reasons they indulged in straight s*x, gay s*x, casual s*x or s*x with a partner.
The number one urge women couldn’t resist was fancying someone, with physical attraction being the top reason they wanted to do it.
Second up, ladies said they were drawn to feeling of physical pleasure and the third reason was simply because it “feels good”.
Expressing affection or love for a partner were rated fourth and fifth respectively.
Other motivations that made the top 10 included feeling horny, wanting to have fun, wanting sexual release and being swept up in the heat of the moment. There were some obvious differences between reasons for having casual sex compared to why women wanted to romp with their long-term partner.
The study said: “As expected, women reported more physical motivations for casual s*x and more emotional motivations for s*x in a committed relationship.”
