FIFA president, Sepp Blatter downplays the allegations of corruption on his person. He described such claims as character assassination attempts.

As the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI takes on FIFA President, Sepp Blatter, he has boldly come out to defend himself claiming his records are clean of corruption. He braces up to step down later in December this year when a new candidate emerges from the electoral process.

Speaking to Bunte, Blatter bodly challenged anyone to prove he is corrupt. He said: “People don’t understand the word they are using when they accuse me of being corrupt.Someone who accuses me of being corrupt must first prove that to be the case.

“But no one can prove I am corrupt, because I’m not. I don’t mind constructive or legitimate criticism, there’s benefits in seeing things differently. But if someone says ‘Blatter is corrupt because Fifa is corrupt’ I can only shake my head at them.

“I have a clear conscience, otherwise I could not look people in the eye when I talk about this topic. The accusations against me have nothing to do with football, they’re an attack on my personal life.”

The joy of his re-election was reportedly cut short after the FBI raised corruption indictments about his office. He was accused of obtaining a bribe of $10 million from South African government to make them favourite to host the FIFA World Cup in 2010 following the arrest of FIFA senior officials in a Swiss hotel for corruption allegations.
