Just In: Abia Governorship Tussle Takes a New Twist as Justice Abang Refuses to Hear Application

It has become a fierce legal battle as the Abia State governorship tussle between Okezie Ikpeazu and Uche Ogah took another twist today in court.

Justice Okon Abang of a Federal High Court in Abuja, On Friday July, 8 refused to hear Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu’s application for stay of execution of the June 27 judgment of the court removing Ikpeazu as governor.
 
However, the judge directed that Ikpeazu and Uche Ogah, who was ordered to be issued fresh Certificate of Return in the June 27 judgment , should go to the Court of Appeal to argue the motion for stay of execution.
 
The judge said he no longer has jurisdiction to entertain the case since the lawyers of Ikpeazu and Ogah had argued that he was not fit to rule on the case.

Justice Abang in a judgment had on Monday, June 27 ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to immediately issue a certificate of return to the plaintiff, Uche Ogah, who polled the second highest number of votes in the primary.
