As a result of the plane crash suffered by former Governor of Taraba state, Danbaba Suntai, his health status has reportedly deteriorated to a stroke as he receives medical attention abroad. His waning political career has forced his former political associates to look pass him.
Based on the reports of Splendour Magazine on the plight of the former Governor of Taraba state, Danbaba Suntai, who has reportedly suffered a stroke. The former Governor is yet to recover from the 2012 plane crash that crippled his administration.
The former governor has been allegedly abandoned by close associates as his health status deteriorates in a reputable hospital in the United States of America where he is adequately monitored. His huge medical bills have become a major source of concern to his family, the medical bills were being sorted by his former deputy, Alhaji Garba Umar who succeeded him as governor following his health issues. Unfortunately for Suntai, the current Governor of the state in the person of Darius Ishaku has failed to live up to the financial demands of his health.
However, it was gathered that the medical bills will now be taken care of by the governor of Adamawa state, Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow.
Coordinator of the Taraba Peoples Assembly Martins Andekin in an article titled ‘Let’s pray for Governor Danbaba Suntai’ lamented that those who got political favours from Suntai have abandoned him, as his health deteriorates daily.
The article reads in parts: “The plot to blackmail and remove Alhaji Garba Umar from the governance of Taraba State started almost immediately after the ill-fated air accident which incapacitated former Governor Danbaba Suntai.
“The presumed associates of Danbaba Suntai saw Alhaji Garba Umar as an impostor who had come from nowhere to reap from their political labour. It was his major sin.
It should be noted that Suntai's fate was caused by the same political associates who have abandoned him. He was forced down to Nigeria to unsettle ex Governor Garba Umar who was accused of abusing the office. The American doctors treating him insisted on keeping him in the hospital for a period of two and a half years to avoid a future relapse. His close associates defied medical orders and brought him into the country to unseat Garba. Consequently, his health status severely deteriorated.
Garba despite the political turnmoil stood as a messiah for him by still settling his enormous medical bills and provision of funds for the upkeep of his family both home and abroad.
