Hundreds of people turned out on Sunday to mourn the killing of Emmanuel Chidi Nnamdi, 36, at his funeral.
According to AFP, Nnamdi, died in hospital after the attack. “He came to live in peace, he found death”, read one of the many messages left with flowers for Emmanuel Chidi Nnamdi, whose widow, dressed in all white, sat near his rose-topped coffin in the cathedral of Fermo in central Italy.
The funeral was attended by parliamentary relations minister Maria Elena Boschi and the president of the lower house of parliament, Laura Boldrini.
The couple had been housed in a shelter run by Catholic organization Caritas after they fled Nigeria last year after an attack on a church by the Islamic extremist group Boko Haram in which their two-year-old son and other members of their families were killed.
