Residents of Nsit Ibom in Akwa Ibom were thrown into a state of panic recently following a massive explosion of an oil facility that left the region clouded in flames.

A gas pipeline last night exploded and caught fire in Akwa Ibom State in Nsit Ibom near Obotim Nsit. The flame of the burning gas pipeline has turned the sky in many parts of the state red due to its magnitude.
The real cause of the explosion is not yet known. Fire fighters are really battling to calm the situation. Its not clear if the action is related to the activities of Niger Delta militants blowing up oil pipelines in the region.
