In what will come across as a really shocking development, the very popular #SaveMayowa campaign that took over over social media recently has been found out to be a scam.

Some days ago, social media was abuzz with a campaign to save a young woman from ovarian cancer.

The young woman identified as Mayowa Ahmed was being sold to Nigerians on social media as a young lady in serious and urgent need of treatment to be saved from her sick state.

In a heartfelt show of solidarity, Nigerians responded with lots of donations for her.

However, just two days after Nigerians kindly donated to the cancer patient for surgery, a new report has emerged showing that Mayowa and her family scammed kind hearted Nigerians.

According to a report on LIB, even though Mayowa is really sick, her family lied to Nigerians about her true state.

Mayowa truly has Ovarian cancer. She's admitted at LUTH but she didn't need money for surgery, because doctors had told Mayowa she was beyond treatment and no hospital in the world could treat her as she was extremely far gone.

Mayowa had reached stage 4 and doctors, unfortunately, already told her family she won't survive it and had advised them to take her home. Her family instead used her situation to raise money from Nigerians.

The doctors in LUTH have also denied giving her family a medical report advising her to seek treatment abroad.

Top Nollywood actress, Toyin Aimakhu, who was one of those who spearheaded the fundraising, is currently at LUTH with police officers.

Some people also went to the family's home and the place is locked up.
