Governor Kashim Shettiman of Borno state has been accused of lavishing a whooping sum of N10 million on Ramadan breakfast daily which involves hosting elite individuals in the state.
According to SaharaReporters, the Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima has been throwing extravagant breakfast parties for top officials in Maiduguri since the beginning of Ramadan, the 17th of June, 2015.
The breakfast parties has been a daily affair despite the financial crisis compounded by the incesssant Boko Haram attacks that has hit the country. Reliable sources have done an audit on the cost of the breakfast and it has been discovered to cost a sum of N10 million per day.
The Borno State House of Assembly recently cut down the number of aides Governor Shettima has from 40 to 20 in an effort to control outrageous expenses from the State government.
Nigeria is experiencing serious financial downturn especially at the state level which has resulted into over 18 states not being able to pay the salary of their workers. Expenses like this is a mere waste of developmental funds according to critics.
