According to ESPN's Dan Rafael, World Boxing Organization is set to withdraw its 147-pound belt from Floyd Mayweather due to his abuse of laid down rules and regulations.
Floyd Mayweather who bagged the title after beating Phillipines' boxer Manny Pacquiao refused to pay a sum of $200,000 which serves as the santioning fee for the title. The deadline seems to have passed with the boxer not showing any readiness to pay. Additionally, he has also refused to give up the WBA and WBC junior middleweights titles. It shoud be noted that boxers are not permitted by law to hold world championship in multiple classes.
According to Dan Rafael, the WBO is strongly against breaking its rules for Mayweather as the World Boxing Council and World Boxing Association have reportedly permitted him to. A notice has been sent to Floyd Mayweather.
President of the WBO, Francisco "Paco" Valcarcel told ESPN that that if Mayweather did not comply with the rules he would be stripped if he missed the deadline on Monday.
On June 27, Timothy Bradley Jr. won a unanimous decision against Jessie Vargas to win the vacant WBO interim welterweight title in a fight initially announced as being for the vacant full title -- until Mayweather's change of heart. At that point it was reduced to an interim title bout. If Mayweather is indeed stripped, Bradley will be elevated to the organization's full title holder
