A random middle age man in Ebonyi lost his life as a result of electric shock after being hired to fix a fault.

According to the details made available by the Public Relations Officer of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company in Ebonyi, Mr. Lazarus Chiedozie, the death has occurred of a middle age man named Jonathan Agwu who was reportedly electrocuted in the course of fixing an electrical fault. The incident happened at Agba Abor Isu in Onicha local government area of the state.

He offered a disclaimer on the deceased being a member of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EDDC in Ebonyi. In his words:
“The man went to do our work; he decided to turn himself into EDDC staff by force by climbing up to jumper line that was isolated by the company to help them trace where there is fault.

“So he went to jumper it on his own, a 33KVA high tension line and unfortunately he paid the ultimate price”.

The deceased according to sources was said to be a native of Umufu village, Amanato in Isu but was not known to be an EDDC staff in the state.

This comes as a public warning and deterrent to all unauthorized power engineers working illegally on electric faults in the country.
