As Boko Haram intensify attacks in the North-eastern part of Nigeria, a female suicide bomber reportedly blew up herself in Kano.
A female suicide bomber blew herself up outside a popular Kano mosque, Umar Ibn Khattab on Zoo road in Kano metropolis on Monday night, a few minutes after the night prayer.
An eye witness, Sulaiman Ibrahim, said the teenage bomber attempted to enter the mosque when the explosives went off, killing her and injuring some members of the vigilante attached to the mosque.
He said the incident happened about 9:21pm after the congregation of Isha and Tarawe prayer as it was conducted early, unlike before.
It was gathered that the bomber had observed the vigilante attached to the mosque screening people with electronic device and decided to retreat and stay around the mosque.
According to him, the girl was heading towards the mosque when she missed her target and blew herself up.
The attack is coming hours after two bomb explosions left at least 44 persons dead in Jos, the capital of Plateau State.
After the explosion, the State’s Governor ordered the re-establishment of military check pints at strategic locations across the state to address security crisis.
