A man who had obviously gotten up with certain occurrences in his life, has decided to find a way out of his misery.
The man identified as one Popoola Adepoju, a 48-year-old landlord and father of three has killed himself.
The man committed suicide in Ayegbami Zone 7 area of Idi Ose in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The police from the Oyo State Command are now trying to unravel the motive behind the suicide.
According to Daily Trust, the body of Adepoju, a former staff of the defunct National Electric Power Authority (NEPA), was found dangling from the ceiling of his room where he had reportedly hanged himself with a rope tied to the ceiling fan.
It was gathered that the deceased had sent his children out of the house, marked No. 17 before committing the suicide.
His wife, who was also not at home at the time of the incident, returned later in the evening only to find that her husband had taken his life by hanging.
The distraught wife told the investigation police officers that visited the house that her husband was disengaged from NEPA at Abeokuta two years ago, but had not been paid his entitlements. To sustain himself and the family, she said, he engaged in small scale cement sale.
The deceased left a three-sheet suicide note which initially caused a controversy between some members of the family and the police as they refused to release it to the police. The two police officers left in annoyance.
Upon persuasion, however, the note was released to the general chairman of the Idi Ose community, Chief Taiwo Alimi JP.
Chief Alimi later led the community members and the deceased’s relatives to the Akanran Police Division where the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Aliko Dankoli (CSP), directed that the corpse be buried as requested.
The deceased was later buried in his compound amidst wailing by members of his household and sympathisers who came to the area.
