Not fewer than 30 people and 32 cows have been reportedly killed in a fatal car accident caused by a road block set up by armed robbers to facilitate their operations.
The ever busy Lokoja- Abuja highway was greased with human and animal blood yesterday morning, Monday, 6th of July, 2015 after a very fatal road accident claimed the lives of no fewer that 30 persons and 32 cows.
According to an eyewitness, a luxury bus with registration number KRD 799 LC which was coming from Lagos and heading to Abuja suddenly ran into the road block mounted by the armed bandits. As the bus was trying to manoeuvre its way, a trailer truck with registration number KTN 711 YZ loaded with dozens of cows suddenly rammed into the bus killing several people on the spot.
The accident lead to the destruction of the front row of the trailer and the first seven rows of the luxury bus were damaged which led to the death of the driver of the vehicle and his passengers.
People who passed by the scene of the accident claimed to have seen severed body parts of passengers as well as cows being transported. They claimed the severed human parts were packed in nylon bags and taken to the mortuary.
A lady who survived the accident said she lost her newly wedded husband who was traveling with her in the accident. This accident caused a gridlock in the area as commuters were restricted by the stoppage of movement.
There is no official account on the number of deaths by the Federal Road Safety Corp in the region.
