As Bayelsa state's gubernatorial polls draw nearer, the election fever seems to be hiting the state of the former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, with candidates expressing interests in the highly esteemed position.
Moses SIloko Siasia, the younger brother of former national team coach, Samson Siasia has officially announced his decision to run for the gubernatorial position in the state under the banner of the People's Democratic Party, PDP in the state.
According to PUNCH, Siasia seized the opportunity of a public speech in Yenagoa to express his pains about the staggering 85% youth unemployment rate in the state which poses a great risk to the future of the youths as well as the state. He affirmed his capability to end the menace of unemployment in the state due to his long history of providing jobs for applicants.
He said: “Unemployment is taking its toll on our youths. We have over 85 per cent of Bayelsa youths unemployed. How do we create employment for our teeming youths that have been impoverished by successive governments and that have become disillusioned? We need to create a great industrial and education revolution in Bayelsa.
“In one year, we can create 20,000 jobs. You don’t give what you don’t have. I have created jobs before. I am doing it now in my business. So, if I am saddled with public office, I can do more for our people. What we have are people who have not created jobs anywhere. They don’t even understand the dynamics of creating jobs for the people”.
He finally advocated on the development of the state into an economic and marine hub which will channel in massive jobs and industries for the betterment of the people. This, he says, he is capable of ensuring through his leadership prowess.
