A dedicated worker and a family's breadwinner has shared his unforgettable ordeal in the hands of kidnappers.
Mark Asu Obi
Four days in the hands of armed robbers turned kidnappers was like four years in the sight of Mr Mark Asu -Obi, a knight of Saint Mulumba and Justice of Peace in the Catholic Diocese of Kano.
He was allegedly attacked by the bandits when he and his wife, Lady Lesley set out from Abuja on Saturday, June 27, 2015 to attend the wedding ceremony of a friend’s daughter in Enugu.
According to the victim who is still undergoing a recovery process on his sick bed in Garki Hospital, Abuja, he was driven with his wife by his driver. On the Lokoja road, there was pandemonium as they started hearing gunshots. Several vehicles started turning back and speeding off for safety. IUnknown to them, a standing team was already stationed by the bandits to block their path. They were ordered out of the car and reportedly robbed massively with other victims who were shot at in the process. they left his wife and driver behind and then put him in his car with another man who was a victim too.
His wife and daughter
They reportedly zoomed off to an unknown destination. He was driven into the bush with the other man. They made enquiries about his identity and family. the unidentified men then revealed they were kidnappers and not robbers. Their target according to them was a white man who escaped from them. They took all the belongings he had on him and mandated him to drop family contacts for a possible delivery of ransome.
They seized his personal phone from which they consulted most of his contacts demanding for obnoxious ransome which they eventually got. At a point, after they had generated a couple of millions, they asked him to pray for them and the funds. He was then released by the kidnappers.
Mark Asu-Obi gives thanks to God for his life as he was almost killed in the process.
