The presidential aspirant on the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC), former Head of the State, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), has vowed to end insurgency and other forms of anxiety in the country, if elected President in the 2015 general elections. This promise is coming because of increasing insurgency by the Boko Haram terrorists in the North-East and particularly the Friday’s attack on Kano Central Mosque.

To support this promise, Buhari has made efforts to show the nation that he is a man of integrity. It was reported that the APC presidential aspirant refused to lobby delegates with money during his last visit to Imo State during his countrywide tour to meet the party’s delegates.

Dr. Chidia Maduekwe, (the Head Media, Publicity and ICT) in Buhari Support Organisation, noted this in his weekly brief on “GMB meet the party delegates nationwide tour.” He wrote, “At no time did GMB (General Mohammadu Buhari), all through this meet the delegates tour, share MONEY or lobby any delegate with money. As we all know, a leopard can never change its spot. Friends and sympathisers may have privately encouraged their colleagues to attend the delegates’ meeting, certainly not GMB directing or approving any monetary exchange, as being falsely reported by some online media.”
He also said that APC is ready to turn the tide to bring Nigeria back into the fold of proud and respectable community of African nations.

However, it was reported earlier that Buhari, the leading APC presidential candidate, donated N1 million to the delegates of the party from Imo State to get their votes during its December 10 national convention.

Buhari himself spoke at a reception organised for him at the APC secretariat in Enugu State on Saturday evening. He mentioned that soldiers involved in the campaign against terrorism and insurgency had complained of inadequate weapons, despite the huge security budget. He attributed this to lack of effective leadership.
