A woman and her son are being made to pay for their criminal act after being found out to have stolen a baby.
The suspects
A woman and her son have been arrested by operatives of the Imo State Police Command on Monday.
They were arrested for allegedly stealing a day-old male child, Chukwunoso, from a maternity in Isiala, Mbano council area of the state.
According to Leadership, while parading the suspects, Mrs.Ngozi Anyanwu and Goodluck Anyanwu before news men at the state command in Owerri, the Commissioner of Police, CP Taiwo Lakanu said when he received the news of the sudden disappearance of a new born baby on August 19, he immediately swung into action which led to the arrest of the kidnappers.
According to Lakanu, the day-old male child who was delivered on the 19th of this month, was stolen the next day but with the effective responsive system put in place by his command, the baby was recovered from his kidnappers at their hide out in Umuelemai in Isiala Mbano council area of the state.
