From the look of things, it seems some persons in charge of IDP camps in the north-east have been corruptly diverting foodstuffs meant to feed the hapless people plagued with malnutrition and diseases.

Internally displaced persons at the Gidan Taki camp yesterday protested, 24th of August while demanding the immediate removal of the camp chairman over allegations of diversion of foodstuff meant for IDPs.

Daily Trust gathered that displaced persons from the camp took to the street of Maiduguri en masse and barricaded the Maiduguri - Gamboru Ngala road hindering movement of vehicles for over an hour.

The demanded for the sack of Mohammed Sema, the camp chairman over allegations of diverting supplies until security personnel at the camp intervened.

Nigerians in IDP camps totalling about 2.3 million have suffered intense malnutrition leading to subsequent death and diseases despite the money donations made by well-meaning Nigerians and international bodies and NGOs.
