A man is being made to pay for cruel act after he horrified his ex girlfriend by mailing her a live python.

Eric R. Burrows

Eric R. Burrows, a 37-year-old Elkhart Lake man is facing a felony charge.

Sheboygan Press reports that he is facing a charge of stalking/domestic abuse after allegedly harassing his ex-girlfriend, including by sending her a live snake.

According to the criminal complaint: On Aug. 8, the Sheboygan Police Department responded to a call from the 38-year-old victim indicating that a threatening letter had been sent to her employer from a woman who included a variety of derogatory names and claims that the victim was promiscuous, ultimately threatening to come to the store and “take care of her myself.”

The victim then played police two voicemails left on her work line from a woman who accused the victim of trying to steal her boyfriend and threatening to rip the victim’s hair out.

The Sheboygan officer noted it sounded like the woman was reading from a script in the messages.

The victim told police she thought Eric R. Burrows was behind the messages. Following their breakup and her moving out of the apartment they shared, he sent her a variety of text messages that ranged from friendly to accusing her of leading him on.

One message included a nude picture of the victim that Burrows threatened to share.

The manager of the apartment complex that the victim recently moved into also received a profane letter and suspicious phone calls from a man claiming to work with a delivery service and seeking confirmation of the victim’s address, which the manager refused to give.

The victim showed a detective over 50 emails that had been sent to her from Burrows over the course of two weeks. The victim’s ex-husband also received a threatening letter in the mail and had concerns about the safety of his family.

These events led up to a suspicious package that was left at the victim’s apartment complex with directions to deliver it to her.

When the Sheboygan Police Department took the package to be X-rayed, it revealed a live ball python, a non-venomous constrictor, and a note reading, “Surprise you lying (expletive). Enjoy, this who you are (sic). Now do u care.”

The management office at the apartment complex received calls from a woman and a man seeking to confirm the package would be delivered. The victim and officers confirmed these calls came from Burrows’ cellphone and B & B Metals in Newton, where Burrows is the vice president and co-owner.

After Burrows was taken into custody, officers say they found incriminating evidence on his Internet history, such as searches for the mailing addresses of the victim’s apartment complex, her employer’s office and her ex-husband, and another letter on his person that had not yet been sent.
