Nigerian Journalist Arrested Over Alleged Ties with Boko Haram 'Freed' from Detention...See Details

Popular journalist arrested for alleged connection to Boko Haram terrorists' video and the whereabouts of over 200 Chibok schoolgirls, has been freed from detention.

 
Dubai-based Nigerian journalist, Ahmed Salkida, who was taken into custody by operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) as he arrived from the UAE at Abuja airport, weeks after being declared wanted by the Nigerian Army over his alleged ties with Boko Haram, and was reportedly denied access to his lawyer, Femi Falana, yesterday, has been finally released, a high-level security source has exclusively disclosed to SaharaReporters. 
 
A security source reevaled exclusively to SaharaReporters that Ahmed Salkida was very “cooperative” throughout the time he was in the custody of the DSS, adding that Salkida had informed the DSS in advance that he planned to return to Nigeria after the Nigerian Army declared him wanted. 
 
The military had sought the journalist, who is believed to be in contact with some leaders of the Islamist terror group, Boko Haram, especially in connection with the group’s recent release of a video showing some secondary school girls abducted in April 2014.
 
Ahmed Salkida was released at 5:30 p.m. Nigerian time, and had reportedly gone to stay with some friends in Abuja.
