Jonathan, Buhari, Others in Aso Rock Approve of New IG of Police, 6 INEC REC's

The Council of State has approved the appointment of the Inspector General of Police, 6 Resident Electoral Commissioners and 5 commissioners for the National Population Commission.

During a meeting by the Council of State earlier today at the presidential villa, Abuja, which had in attendance President Jonathan as well as former Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar and former Head of the Interim National Government, Chief Ernest Shonekan, the appointment of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, was approved by the council.
 
According to Premium Times, the council also approved the appointment of six Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and five commissioners for the National Population Commission (NPC).
 
Chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari, the council also received briefing on the state of the economy and efforts by the government to revamp it.
