Nigerian international, Kelechi Ihenacho scored the winning goal as Manchester City defeated Manchester United in Saturday's derby.
It was the first ever meeting of the two coaches in the English Premier League in 2016. The two coaches, Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola are known to be bitter rivals. Manchester City visited Old Trafford for the game as all eyes was on United's Zlatan Ibrahimovich, Paul Pogba against the Man City squad.
Man City drew the first blood as classy Kevin De Bruyne danced past the Man Utd defence before slotting it past David De Gea.
Kelechi Iheanacho gave City a deserved two-goal lead as he slotted home after a Bruyne shot ricochet off the far post before Zlatan Ibrahimovic capitalised on Claudio Bravo's error to score United's only goal.
Although, City goalkeeper Bravo should have been dismissed by referee Mark Clattenburg for a foul on Wayne Rooney early in the second half. Clattenburg waved away the appeals as City held on.
Bruyne should have added to his tally before he was denied by the post; it was an intensive game which saw City excel with many counterattacks. But, it all ended two goals to one in City's favour as they retain the bragging rights over their close neighbour.
Bruyne was given the man of the match award for his outstanding performance as Guardiola has made it four wins in four games since taking over as Manchester City's coach.
