A burial ceremony has turned even more sorrowful after a dead woman's daughter suddenly died at the event.
Witnesses were left completely shocked and horrified after a 30-year-old woman, Pauline Wangari, suddenly died at her mother’s funeral at an Nyeri county village in Kenya.
The incident occurred on Thursday, September 15, 2016.
According to Daily Nation, Pauline Wangari was said to be close to her mother, 72-year-old Esther Wangari, and that she had reacted badly to the death of her mother.
“They walked and did everything together. She spent most of her time sleeping on her mother’s bed since her demise on September 3, 2016,” said Jackson Muriuki, a member of the burial committee.
Residents who spoke to the Daily Nation, revealed that Pauline exhibited very peculiar behavior and she suffered shock.
It is believed that the shock triggered an epileptic event that killed her around 11:30 am but this could not be confirmed.
“She took her medicine and asked for food from the kitchen before going back to the house. We later found her unconscious and confirmed that she was dead when she did not respond to us,” said Rose Mwangi, her sister.
What was even more unexpected was that a burial certificate was immediately sought to have Pauline buried the same time as her mother was without undergoing any autopsy or investigation into her death.
According to the newspaper, the villagers expressed their shock, as well as the fact that neither Pauline nor her mother was buried with a cross or flowers.
A reverend who was overseeing the funeral service told them that such items are not a necessity at funerals.
