Godwin Obaseki of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State has enjoyed an edge over his People's Democratic Party counterpart, Pastor Iyze Iyamu as a former Governor endorses him ahead of the September 28 governorship election in the South-south State.

The Edo Mass Movement led by the two-time former Governor of old Bendel State, Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia has adopted the APC candidate, Mr. Godwin Obaseki as its candidate, for the election.
Addressing journalists yesterday, Dr. Ogbemudia said “the EMM announces that from the preponderance of opinion expressed from the three senatorial districts in Edo State, the EMM declares support for Mr. Godwin Obaseki of the All Progressives Congress.
"We are additionally persuaded that Mr. Obaseki being relatively unencumbered by controversies of the past, represents the best foot forward for us in this election.
“Accordingly, the Edo Mass Movement recommends Mr. Godwin Obaseki to the good people of Edo state come September 10, 2016, election.
"This was decided after our sincere belief that Obaseki has what it takes to take Edo state to the next level after”.
