Factory Worker in Lagos Charged For Beating Wife to Death

A 37 year old factory worker is currently standing trial over murder charges, for allegedly beating his wife to death.

 
An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Friday ordered the detention of a factory worker, Kingsley Oshiegbu, in Ikoyi Prisons’ custody over reports that he murdered his wife, Ifeoma Ndidi, 32. Olajuwon.
 
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs M.O. Olajuwon, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPPs).
 
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Cyriacus Osuji, had told the court that the 37 year old who resides at No. 7, Majaro St., Agege, Lagos state , is standing trial on a charge of murder.
 
Osuji said the accused had on April 1 at about 11:45pm, at his residence attacked the deceased by beating her multiple times on the head which led to her death.
 
"The deceased was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival," he said.
 
He said that the offence contravened Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
 
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 221 prescribes capital punishment for offenders.
