A family has caught a monster alligator using a fishing pole more than 40 years old and a 100-pound line. The more than 13 feet long weigh a whopping 640 pounds and more.
According to WCIV-TV, The Montei family of Summerville, South Carolina who are all avid fishers caught the big gator during a hunt.
"That wasn't what we were looking for but that's what it ended up being," Mike Montei told
WCIV-TV. “I’ve never been lucky like that."
The gator was 13 feet, 4 inches longp after it was measured. "People hunt years and never see an alligator like that," Mike Montei said.
"I'd thought Godzilla for sure," Sarah Montei told WCIV-TV.
"It was a lot of fun, though, and I think if we had another chance to do it we probably would," Sarah Montei said. "But we definitely wouldn't be shooting for another 13 footer."
