The outspoken senator representing Bayelsa east, Ben Murray-Bruce, has asked the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government to priotise the economy over its anti-corruption war.

The lawmaker who is known for his "Common sense" advocacy, took to his Twitter and said that the corruption war might not achieve the intended result if it is carried out at the expense of the economy.

The senator also lamented the threat of Erisco Foods to halt its operations and lay off 1,500 workers as a result of the economic situation.

He wrote;

"I'm pained a manufacturer like Erisco that employs over 1500 is considering closing up. I call on the FG to do all it can to assist Erisco!.

"Winning election is the beginning of leadership, not the end. Fighting corruption is a priority, but growing an economy is a higher priority.

"You cant fight corruption to grow an economy. You grow an economy as you fight corruption. The poorer a nation the likelier it'll be corrupt."
