A woman who shocked many people after selling off her own daughter for a really meager sum, is being made to face the wrath of the law.
A commercial s*x worker identified as Grace Onome, has been arraigned in court.
The woman was arraigned in court for allegedly selling her 2-year-old child for N60, 000 in Lagos State.
It will be recalled that
Onome was arrested in the Badagry area of the state alongside four accomplices, who allegedly aided the sale of the girl.
Onome, who worked as a commercial s*x worker in the Mobil area of Badagry, allegedly sold her daughter, Zainab, on September 30 to another s*x worker, simply identified as Endurance, for the said amount.
She however, appeared on Wednesday before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on a two-count charge.
According to the prosecutor, Insp. Daniel Ighodalo, the 37-year-old committed an offence which contravened Sections 142 and 274(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Miss Abimbola Awogboro, granted bail to the s*x worker in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till November 21 for trial.
