Earl Simmons better known by his stage name of DMX has bagged a 6 months jail sentence for failing to pay $400,000 of child support to one of his baby mamas.
The 44-year-old rapper, who was one of hip-hop's biggest stars of the late 90s and early 2000s, was placed in the Erie County holding centre in Buffalo, New York on Tuesday, July 14.
It would be recalled that the rapper was arrested on 26 June, before a performance at Radio City Music Hall, to answer several outstanding issues including unpaid child support and a robbery complaint in Newark, New Jersey - for which no charges were filed - and a warrant for bail jumping in White Plains, New York.
Local broadcaster WIVB, says DMX has "a history of crime in Erie County, including over child support and traffic violations" hence the jail sentence is not coming as a surprise as the long arm of the law would always catch up with offenders someday. That day was yesterday for DMX.
