The headquarters of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), in Abuja, was on Tuesday morning, shut down by workers of the agency, who also denied the acting director general, Yetunde Oni, access to her office.

According to Premium Times, today's incident was in continuation of a protest by the workers against the management of the agency, as the workers had halted operations at the headquarters of the agency since last week when they began their protest.

The agency's DG, Mrs. Oni, was spotted making a call on her phone in front of the gate on which the workers had hung a heavy padlock, and a few minutes later, a team of armed policemen arrived at the scene, apparently in response to her call, and later forced the lock open to allow Mrs. Oni into the premises.

The policemen also cordoned off the area to deny the protesting workers access.

As at the time of filing this report, Mrs. Oni and members of the NAFDFAC staff declined talking to correspondents on the matter.
